- Llanrwst © Ciaran Palmer - This was in Llanrwst and we've lived here since November. We found this town by accident while looking to buy and fell in love with it as soon as we stopped. We always knew we wanted to move to wales but unsure where before. We relocated here from Manchester (of 2 years) and grown up in Essex. This town, and house is a new start for us in terms of finances, happiness, careers and a new way of life in the mountains. Also the people were so welcoming it gave us hope for the plans ahead.
- River Conwy © Debo - Here is a favourite place of mine, walking along Conwy river from RSPB.
- Carmel © Dominic Chennel
- Gwydir Forest © Emma Corke - I took this photo on a night walk in the Gwydyr Forest where I have walked all my life. I think it's magical!
- Llangelynnin Church © Gareth Hughes - Llangelynnin Old Church is a very special place. It's beauty lies in its remoteness and in the fact that it is largely untouched since the 12th century. It is a place were your imagination can easily take hold, thinking of the drovers taking their livestock over the mountains and worshipping in the Men's Chapel, away from the local parishioners. The plainness inside the church is part of its appeal added to by the basic flooring and the simple rood screen, thinking of all the people who have worshipped there over the centuries.Today the church grounds are shared by pilgrims, visitors and the local sheep population making it a truly magical place.

- Room with a View, Dolgarrog, nr Llyn Coedty © Graham Williams - This is a special place to me as I walked past it so many times as a youngster, on my way to fish in Llyn Coedty and Llyn Eigiau, and it hasn't seemed to have changed at all over the decades. It is such a peaceful location with amazing views across the Conwy Valley and up the estuary. It is a great place to chill out and reflect on how lucky we are to live in such a wonderful place.
- Penmachno Wollen Mill Pack Horse Bridge © Keith Roobottom
- Llynnau Mymbyr © Llion Griffiths
- Nant Bwlch yr Haearn, Gwydir Forest © Nisha - I came across this challenge whilst dropping off a poster of my nain’s second book ‘Alomst a Catastrophe! A Welsh family’s adventures in Malta’ at There and Back Again in Dolgarrog. North Wales, especially the Gwydyr Forest, has always been such a special place to me because of the history it holds within my family. I’ve always loved staying up there and hearing all the stories that my nain, Janet Corke (nee Williams), has to tell, lots of which are included in her first book ‘A Hidden Home in the Gwydyr Forest’. All my favourite childhood memories were up in the forest, around the lakes and in the hills! I’m 22 now and it’s still my favourite place to visit as I find it so calming and quiet up there!
- Coed Bryndansi Woods © Oliva Roberts
- Llanbedr y Cenin © Patrycja Suchanska - I have been living in Llanbedr-y-Cennin for the last couple of years. I absolutely love this area and the field with the single tree is definitely one of my favorite spots.
- Llyn Crafnant © Paul Jones
- Llyn Crafnant © Rebecca Lloyd - Llyn Crafnant at sunset on New Years Eve 2019. Llyn Crafnant is a lovely place and very special for us as a family we walk around the lake every Christmas day and on New Year's Day too. The kids and dog are very fond of it.
- Safle Caer Rhufeinig Canovium © Shirley Williams - I love this place
- Capel Ardda, above Trefriw © Tim Pugh - Capel Ardda, above Trefriw and a beautiful melancholic, remote location. When I first went, the woods nearby were full of cuckoos and the mountains covered in snow...really magical.
- Gwydir Forest, Trefriw © Graham Hembrough - Gwydir forest, a space I have spent many happy hours of wondering during the Covid crisis and feel this image conveys the feelings of optimism through the metaphor of 'light penetrating the shadows..,'
- Llandudno Pier and Great Orme © Alan Taylor - The sky is blue, the sunsets are stunning all year round. There's something for everyone here of all ages! My happy place! I simply call....HOME
- Nasturtiums © Billie Ingram - This picture of a nasturtium is incredibly important as it was the first thing that sprouted in my little garden during lockdown and now it is the last thing to have bloomed in the last week after my beloved dog Poppy passed away and her grave is a veritable cornucopia of colour and joy.
- Llanfairfechan © Claire Kay - ‘carpet of evening mist’ photo. It is a picture of Llanfairfechan cob in the early evening when the heavy mist was starting to settle across the grassy marshland giving it an ethereal quality. We walk our dog there often & I never get tired of the changing seasons & wildlife. Throughout lockdown especially it was the most magical escape right on our doorstep from the chaos of the world around us. It became a place of beauty, sanctuary, & friendship as familiar dog walkers & village residents walked by & acknowledged the days we’ve been living in & the relief of living in such a beautiful place.
- Grerat Orme Site of Special Scientific Interest & special butterfily site © David Chandler
- Sychnant Conwy a Harri (Cockapoo) © Gill Boocock - This is where we go for tranquility.
- Y Prom Bae Colwyn © Iolo Williams - The Colwyn Bay Prom and beach, is such a wonderful outdoor space for us all to enjoy, especially in these health challenging times.
- Conwy mountain © Natalie Roberts
- Gloddaeth Woods Llandudno © Tuladhana East - Gloddaeth Woods, Penrhynside, taken Sept 2021. I have walked, sang, written songs, poetry, laughed, cried and held photo shoots in these woods. These ancient trees have such presence, such majesty and make me feel so free, so wanted and so comforted. The light captured just looked like a magical moment captured in time.

Thank you to all the contributors – some beautiful pictures giving a good representation of the area.
Interesting to see locations other than the tourist hot spots and to know why they are significant to the photographer. It may be structures or scenery that attract individuals but equally light or atmosphere can be the trigger of interest.
Stunning photo which perfectly encapsulates the photographer’s description. Invokes imagery of medieval Wales and of a romantic age.
