We are looking for a Welsh speaking freelance coordinator to engage with communities and partners to organise 3 bicycle powered outdoor cinema screenings in Dyffryn Conwy in April 2022. Fee £3k, deadline to apply January 28th 2022.
If you enjoy engaging with people, organising things and have enthusiasm for community based arts activities and exploring different ways of working, please apply or get in touch.
Project Information
We’re interested in engaging directly with people in communities to explore what films they want to see as part of the project. Handing over decision making and exploring how to collectively reach agreement. We’re open to how this works and how to organise it, there will be lots of learning about different forms of collaboration and it’s ok if it doesn’t work as expected.
We’ll gather a team of local people to ride the bikes to power the cinema, set up the equipment, share information about the screenings, and make a decision on whether the popcorn should be sweet or salty, or both!
What is Pedal Powered Cinema?
A mobile cinema set up powered by bicycles! We’re planning on having a four bike set up, and everyone of all ages and sizes can take part. Everyone can contribute to making the cinema work, and people need to pedal in order to continue to watch the film.

Who’s doing this?
Dyffryn Dyfodol is a partnership between Ffiwsar, a creative production organisation based in Llanrwst, Natural Resources Wales and Cartrefi Conwy, an independent not for profit Registered Social Landlord.
What is Dyffryn Dyfodol?
Dyffryn Dyfodol translates to ‘future valley’. We want to collaborate with communities, organisations and projects in the focus area of rural Conwy and look at ways of making positive change happen. By bringing people together for creative activities, we explore a future we all want to see. We want to find out about people’s experiences and ideas – what could be changed or challenged to benefit all our communities and the environment? We don’t have the answers – finding out together is what the project is about.
The project currently runs until March 2024 and is part funded by Arts Council for Wales.
